Sure Hold
A Electric Rollator For Poeple With Limited Mobility And Reduced Grip Strength
Concept
The "Sure Hold" smart walking aid is designed for people with limited leg mobility and weak grip strength. Traditional walkers require hand strength to move forward, which is challenging for users with weak hands. Therefore, I designed this smart walking aid to enable users to carry out daily activities independently through smart technology and user-friendly design, improving their quality of life.

Background

Globally, people with leg impairments and weak hand strength due to certain diseases and injuries suffer from decreased quality of life because the market lacks walking aids suited for their conditions. These individuals cannot independently operate standard walkers due to insufficient hand strength. As the prevalence of these conditions rises worldwide, the demand for appropriate assistive walking devices is growing stronger.
Research

Diseases and injuries can cause limited leg mobility and weak grip strength, and without suitable walking aids, daily life will be affected.
Caused by diseases
Arthritis

Muscle Diseases

Caused accidental injuries
Fractures

Tendon Tear

Neurological Disorders

Joint Sprain

Data Of Disease
The large number and growing trend of these diseases show that many people have leg mobility issues and weak grip strength.

Problems with Existing Rollators
Market Research

They are not suitable for people with weak grip; it's difficult to push the walker independently, so assistance is needed.

This indicates a steady expansion trend and increasing demand for rollator walkers in future 5 years.
Development

Concept 1
Stable design but takes up a lot of storage space.
Concept 2

Handles are unsuitable, and the overall structure is unstable.
I choose concept 3 for its comfort handles, stability, easy storage, and suitability for people with weak grip and limited mobility

Concept 3

Safe grip handles, stable struture, and easy to store.
For final concept, I develop an interactive screen that aligns with the perspective of a standing person, a comfortable grip supports hand, the function of walking and sitting on same side and efficient storage.
Main Functions
Walking Mode
Sitting Mode

Interactive Screen

Walking and Sitting in same side
The walking and sitting positions are on the same side, reducing the risk of falls when switching modes.

Ergonomic Handles
The ergonomic handle offers comfortable hand support while walking , helping users better exert force and control the walker.
Usage Steps

The user turns on the device and checks the features on the main screen.
The user prepares to start walking in the park and manually adjusts the environment settings and assistance level.
The user selects automatic mode, and the device adjusts the assistance level based on the uphill, outdoor setting, and grip strength.

The user uses the voice navigation function in the park to reach the destination.

The user can view detailed gait analysis reports while walking to help prevent falls and then arrive at their destination to meet friends.
